An elderly man named Harlal Pal (65) died after being electrocuted in Subarnachar, Noakhali. The incident took place at around 12 noon on Thursday (June 19) in Ward No. 1 of Purba Charbata Union of the upazila.

The deceased Harlal Pal is the son of the deceased Girish Chandra Pal of Hajipur village of Ward No. 3 of the same union of the upazila. Locals said that Harlal went to pick kachu sticks to harvest kachu near his house in the morning. At that time, he got electrocuted after getting entangled in a torn rural electricity wire lying in the kachu field. He died on the spot.

Rural Electricity Association Subarnachar Zone DGM Md. Arab Ali Sheikh said that stormy weather has prevailed in the entire upazila since morning. As a result, an electricity line was torn. However, although the area is under the jurisdiction of a complaint center, no one informed us about the matter. The old woman died after being electrocuted by the wire while picking up a young plant to eat. A technical team was immediately sent to the scene after receiving information about the accident around 1:15 pm.

Char Jabbar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shahin Mia said that the old woman died after being electrocuted. After receiving the information, the police visited the scene. Since the family had no complaint, the body was handed over to the family without an autopsy.
