It should be noted that a case was filed against 53 Awami League leaders and activists on September 8 of this year in the case of the death of truck worker Khokon in Noakhali in 2013, with Ekramul Karim Chowdhury as the main accused. Khokon’s father Mojibul Haque filed the case at Sudharam Model Police Station as the plaintiff. It has been said in that case that on February 28, 2013, workers-supporters of BNP-Jamaat gathered at Dutta bari intersection of Dutta Bari in Sadar Upazila of Noakhali to observe morning-evening hartal. Khokon was going from his home to Dutterhat Sramik Union office at that time. Awami League leaders including former MP Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, former Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Shamchuddin Jehan, former Zilla Parishad Chairman Abdul Wadud Pintu, former Noakhali Municipality Mayor Shaheed Uliah Khan Sohail attacked the BNP-Jamaat procession. At that time, Ekramul along with other Awami League leaders fired indiscriminately at the BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists and Khokon was shot dead.
