Rab has arrested a husband on charges of beating to death a housewife in Hatia, an isolated Deer upazila of Noakhali. Arrested Md. Didar Uddin (35) is the son of Md. Shahjahan of Dakshin Shulyakiya village of Charking union of the upazila.

This information was confirmed in a press release signed by Mithun Kumar Kundu, acting company commander of RAB-11, CPC-3 Noakhali camp, on Saturday (March 15) afternoon. Earlier, he was arrested from Katgarh area of ​​Patenga police station in Chittagong on Friday, March 14.

The press release said that Dildar married housewife Taslima Begum (25) 10/12 years ago in a family arrangement. Since the marriage, he demanded dowry from the victim Taslima Begum at the instigation of other family members. He also tortured her physically and mentally. He took dowry in several stages, saying that he was going abroad. On February 4, around 11:30 am, Dildar again demanded 5 lakh taka from his wife. When the victim expressed her inability to bring the dowry money, Dildar and five other family members in collusion beat the victim with sticks indiscriminately, injuring various parts of her body and pulling her by the hair. At one stage, the victim collapsed on the ground and died due to their beating. Later, the victim’s relatives filed a case in this incident.

Mithun Kumar Kundu, the company commander in charge of RAB-11, CPC-3 Noakhali Camp, confessed to his involvement in the incident during interrogation of the arrested accused. The accused has been handed over to Begumganj Police Station for legal action.
