At least 6 shops have been gutted in a fire at the Hawkers Market in Chaumuhani Bazar, the main commercial center of Noakhali. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.

Chaumuhani Fire Service Station Officer Mozammel Haque confirmed the matter early on Saturday (March 15). Earlier, the fire broke out at the Hawkers Market in Chaumuhani Bazar around 3 am on Friday.

The affected traders are claiming that the damage is worth about half a crore taka. Upon receiving the information, a unit of Chaumuhani Fire Service tried for an hour to bring the fire under control.

Locals said that the fire broke out at the Hawkers Market in Chaumuhani Bazar around 3 am on Friday. Later, on the cries of local traders in the market, locals came and joined in extinguishing the fire and informed the fire service. Meanwhile, the flames spread in all directions, burning down at least 6 shops, including a printing shop and a plastic toy shop.

Mozammel Haque, Station Officer of the Chaumuhani Fire Service, said that after receiving the information, a unit of the fire service reached the spot and tried for an hour to bring the fire under control. Initially, it is believed that the fire started from an electrical short circuit at an auto-rickshaw charging shop. About 6 shops were burnt down in this. It caused a loss of about 1.5 million taka.
