A young man committed suicide by hanging himself after his lover approached his husband in Chatkhil, Noakhali. The body was sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy on Thursday (July 3) afternoon. Earlier, on Wednesday night, he committed suicide by hanging himself in an under-construction building next to his house in Bhaor village of Panchgaon union of the upazila.

The deceased Lokman Hossain (32) is the son of Abdul Jabbar of Kasem Ali Chowkidar house of the same village in the upazila.

According to local sources, the victim was unmarried. He had been having an extramarital affair with a housewife for more than two years. A few days ago, the husband of the housewife moved into the house. Lokman committed suicide because he could not accept the matter mentally. The relatives of the deceased did not see him at home in the morning and started searching for him in the vicinity. At one point, around 7:30 am, his body was found hanging in the under-construction building next to the house.

Inspector (Investigation) Abdus Sultan, who is in charge of the OC of Chatkhil Police Station, said, “I have heard about the strange matter. However, I do not have any accurate information about it.” Upon receiving the information, the police prepared a post-mortem report on the body at the scene. Around noon, the body was sent to the morgue of the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital for an autopsy. A case of accidental death has been registered at the police station in this incident.
