Even after 21 days of their abduction in Sadar Upazila of Noakhali, law enforcement agencies have not been able to rescue 2 sisters. The victim’s family is spending their days in extreme worry over this.

On Saturday (May 17), the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sudharam Police Station, Fakhrul Islam, confirmed the matter around noon. He said that a case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act in this incident on Friday. Earlier, on the evening of April 26, two sisters were abducted from the house of Faiz Mistry in Ramanandi village of Charmatua Union of the upazila.

The abductees are SSC examinee Tahrim Harun Falah (15) and his younger sister Tashnuba Harun Taha (12).

Farida Akhter, the mother of the two victim schoolgirls, said that her elder daughter Tahrim Harun Falah is an SSC examinee of Pana Mia TF High School and her younger daughter Tashnuba Harun is a seventh grade student of the local Khadijatul Kobra Women’s Madrasa. Sajjadur Rahman Shaon, son of Omar Faruk of Char Bancharam village of the upazila, has been harassing her daughter for a long time on the way to and from school. Although she informed Shaon’s grandfather, grandmother and family members about the matter, they did not take any discipline or action. Shaon became even more angry.

She also said that on the evening of April 26, when I was outside the house, Shaon and his classmates, following the previous incident, entered my house and kidnapped my two daughters Tahrim Harun Falah and Tashnuba Harun. Later, after searching many places and not finding them, they informed Shaon’s family, but they said they did not know anything about it.

The victims’ maternal uncle Wahidur Rahman Apu said, “My two nieces have been kidnapped for the past 21 days. Even after we complained to the police station, the police could not rescue them. The police have also held meetings with the family of accused Sajjadur Rahman Shaon at the police station several times regarding this. But they could not find anything. The last meeting was held with Shaon’s family at the police station on Thursday night, but since they did not get any information about my nieces, the police arrested the accused Sajjadur Rahman Shaon after receiving a complaint from my elder sister Farida Akhter.

Harun Or Rashid, the father of the kidnapped students, said, “My elder daughter Falah completed 6 subjects of the SSC exam. Falah was preparing for the next day’s exam at the study table on the evening of April 26. At that time, the scoundrel Shaon and his classmates kidnapped my elder daughter along with my younger daughter. I don’t know where my daughters are, how they are. Now is the era of information technology, but even after 21 days of the incident, the police have not been able to rescue my daughters yet. I want to find my daughters.

SI Fakhrul Islam of Sudharam Model Police Station also said that a young man named Sajjadur Rahman Shaon (20), accused in this incident, has been arrested and sent to jail through a judicial court. Further legal action will be taken after investigation.
