The police of Noakhali’s Begumganj police station arrested three people along with a gold bar. The accused were handed over to the Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday (January 7) afternoon. Earlier, they were arrested from Khulshi Thana area of ​​Chandpur and Chittagong on Monday.

The arrested are Sohail (35) son of deceased Nurul Islam and her sister Nur Jahan Begum (40) and her husband Main Uddin (49) of Bhabani Jibanpur village in Chaishani Union of Begumganj. 

According to the police, due to staying together for a long time in Saudi Arabia, Sohail of Begumganj developed a good relationship with Ujjal Chowkidar and Sujan Chowkidar. At one point, when Sohail came to Bangladesh on vacation, Ujjal Chowkidar and Sujan Chowkidar bought for their family 1 gold bar of 24 carats weighing 116 grams 6 points, 101 grams weighing 21 carats worth Tk 23 lakhs. A total of 217 grams of 6 points of gold including gold ornaments are given to Sohail. It was said that as soon as Sohail came to the country, the gold bars and ornaments would be delivered to the family of friends Ujjwal and Sujan. Later, Sohail arrived in Bangladesh from Saudi Arabia on December 23. But instead of delivering the gold bars and gold ornaments to his friend’s family, he shut down his mobile, social media.

Lish also said that later when the family members of Ujjal and Sujan collected the address of the accused and went to the house and demanded the gold, the accused and his family denied the gold. On the contrary, it provides them with various threats. The accused then fled the area. In this incident, Ujjal’s uncle Abul Kalam filed a complaint at Begumganj Model Police Station on January 5 Police arrested them when they filed a complaint.  At that time, 1 gold bar of 24 carat weighing 116 grams 6 points was seized from the custody of the accused’s sister and her husband. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Begumganj police station Liton Dewan said that the accused were arrested and handed over to the Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.
