Noakhali Representative:

Awami League activists raised Jai Bangla slogans in the court premises in Noakhali. The return of Awami League activists in such a manner after August 5 has resulted in mixed reactions in the opposition political camps across the district.

The incident took place on Monday (October 21) around 11:30 in the premises of Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.

Speaking to the eyewitnesses, it is known that former Member of Parliament of Noakhali-4 (Sadar and Subarnachar) Constituency Mohammad Ekramul Karim Chowdhury was brought to the court for hearing in the case of murder of truck worker Md. Khokon this morning. At that time, 100-150 activists of Awami League gathered in the court premises. Later, when the former MP Ekramul was taken from the court after the hearing, the activists started shouting slogans in the court premises demanding the release of the former MP Ekramul. At that time the activists said ‘Ekram bhai nai nai bhai raj patha nai chili’, ‘Sheikh Hasina nai bhai ra

District BNP General Secretary Advocate Abdur Rahman said, “We should have looked into the issue of the Lawyers’ Forum, they have made a mistake.” On receiving the news, I immediately spoke to the court concerned. We were not informed about MP Ekram’s remand application.

When asked about this, Sudharam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamrul Islam said, “I have heard the matter.” I was ahead of Scott then.  I can’t tell what happened behind.

Incidentally, at around 11:30 on Monday, Noakhali Senior Judicial Magistrate (Sadar) No. 1 Amli Court Judge Iqbal Hossain granted a two-day remand application to former MP Mohammad Ekramul Karim Chowdhury in connection with the death of truck worker Md Khokon. Earlier, the former MP Ekramul was produced by the police in Noakhali Senior Judicial Magistrate (Sadar) No. 1 Amli Court at around 10:30 on Monday. At that time, the investigating officer of the case applied to take him on five-day remand for the sake of investigating the case. At that time, the lawyer of the accused filed a bail application seeking cancellation of his remand. Mojibul Haque, the father of the slain truck worker on September 8 filed the case at Sudharam Model Police Station as the plaintiff.
