Journalist Kiran died in a road accident while fetching his daughter’s book

A journalist collided head-on with a motorcycle and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw while fetching a girl’s guide book in Noakhali A tragic death has occurred.
He died at a hospital in Dhaka on Monday (January 6) around 2 am. Earlier, the accident took place in front of Sadar Upazila Parishad in district town Maijdi on the same day in the evening.
Deceased Mizanur Rahman Kiran (60) is the elder son of the deceased Abdul Mannan of Tuka Mia Haji house of Ward No. 7 of Narottampur Union of Kabirhat Upazila of District Padua. He was working as Kabirhat upazila representative of Dainik Samaj Sangbad. Apart from journalism, he was also involved in various social and humanitarian activities.
According to local sources, deceased Kiran’s elder daughter Azreen passed HSC from Feni Girls Cadet College. On Monday around 7 pm, he left Kabirhat on a motorcycle for Maijdi, the district town, to buy guide books for his daughter. On his journey, when he reached in front of the Sadar Upazila Parishad on the Sonapur to Maijdi road, his motorcycle collided head-on with a CNG-powered autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction. He suffered a serious head injury. Later local people rescued him and took him to Noakhali General Hospital with 250 beds. After the initial treatment there, he was taken to a hospital in Dhaka for advanced treatment. The doctor on duty at the hospital declared him dead at around 12 o’clock in the night.
He is survived by three daughters and two sons. His death has cast a shadow of mourning among the locals including the journalist community. He was buried in the family cemetery after the funeral at his home on Tuesday at two o’clock in the afternoon.
Sudharam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamrul Islam said the incident was not reported to the police. However, the matter is being investigated.
