Student League leader arrested with foreign pistol

The police arrested a leader of the banned organization Student League named Panthanath Rahul (39) with a foreign pistol in Maizdi of Noakhali.
On Tuesday (January 14) at noon, he was arrested on the third floor of the ‘Aparajita’ building in the master ward of Noakhali Municipality’s Ward No. 2.
The arrested Panthanath Rahul is the son of deceased Sukumar Nath of Masterpara area of Sadar Upazila. Former joint-general secretary of three district Student League and current committee member. A sophisticated US-made pistol with magazine was seized from him.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sudharam Model Police Station Mohammad Kamrul Islam confirmed the matter and said that Panthanath Rahul was arrested with a pistol based on a tip-off. A case has been filed against him under Arms Act. He also said that there was a drug case against the arrested Rahul earlier.
