A Youth Dal leader has been stabbed to death in Noakhali’s Companyganj for occupying a canal and fishing.

The name of the slain youth leader is Md. Yunus Ali alias Ershad Majhi (40). He was the candidate for president of Ward No. 9 Youth Dal of Charafkira Union and was the former president of Chhatra Dal in the same ward. Ershad is the son of Raichul Haque of Diarabalua cluster village of Upazila. He was a boatman by profession and father of three children.

He died at Feni on the way to Chittagong for better treatment on Thursday (November 14) around 9 pm. Earlier, on the same day at around 10:30 am, this incident took place at Guchch Village Ghat of Ward No. 9 of Charafkira Union of Upazila.

When asked about the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Companyganj police station Gazi Muhammad Fauzul Azim said, “I have heard about the death of the young man.” Police are trying to arrest the accused.

OC Gazi Muhammad Fauzul Azim also said that the body was recovered and sent to Noakhali General Hospital mortuary with 250 beds for autopsy. Further action will be taken in the light of the written complaint.
