A school teacher’s house was attacked and set on fire in Sadar Upazila of Noakhali. The attack took place at the Sufi master’s house in the village of South Charkaunia, Ward number 9 of the Upazila’s East Chramtua Union, around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The name of the victim teacher is Md. Abdus Shaheed Master (52). He is the head teacher of North Shullukia Government Primary School in the same upazila. The accused is Mahbubur Rahman Russell (30). Son of deceased Anarul Haque of South Charkaunia village and cousin of the teacher who was attacked.   

When contacted, the relatives of the accused Russell denied the allegations and said that there was a conspiracy against them. They are not involved in the incident.

Inspector (Investigation) in charge of OC of Sudharam Police Station Abu Taher said that the police immediately visited the spot after receiving the information. The victim’s family has been asked to submit a written complaint.  Further legal action will be taken if complaints are received.
