A husband stabbed his wife to death after taking sleeping pills in Hatiya, an isolated island of Noakhali. Immediately after the incident, the relatives of the deceased arrested the killer husband Nahid and handed him over to the police.

The name of the deceased housewife is Rina Akhter (22). She is the daughter of Nadu Mia of constable’s house in Paschim Maijchara village of Ward No. 1 of Sonadia Union of Upazila.

This incident took place at the house of constable of Paschim Maijchara village of Ward No. 1 of Sonadia Union of Upazila at around 9:30 pm on Monday (December 16).

Detained. Nahid Hossain (26) son of deceased Khalil Mia of Rajapur village in Khulna district. He is a furniture maker by profession.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatia police station. Moniruzzaman said that the young man killed his wife due to a trivial incident after taking excessive sleeping pills. Immediately the relatives of the victim arrested the accused husband. The husband was arrested from the spot and taken into police custody. The body was recovered and sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
