A vegetable worker was killed after being hit by a bus in Noakhali’s Companyganj. The deceased Md. Main Uddin (50) is the son of Mojibul Haque of Ward No. 2 of Charkankra Union of Upazila.

The accident took place in front of Karalia Sabzi Arat on the Kabirhat to Basurhat road of the upazila at around 8:30 am on Thursday (January 9).

Local businessman Korban Ali Rakib said that a Busarhat Super Paribahan bus was going to Kabirhat from Basurhat in the morning. Main Uddin came out with a sack of onions on his head while the bus was crossing the Karalia Sabzi Arat area of ​​the upazila on the Kabirhat to Basurhat road. At that time, he was hit by an unfit speeding bus going to Kabirhat. He was seriously injured. Later, the locals rescued him and took him to Companyganj Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead. The killer driver fled immediately after the incident. Locals complain that almost all local buses plying on Kabirhat to Basurhat road are unfit. Due to the lack of monitoring by the concerned authorities, accidents are almost happening in local buses on this road.     

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Companyganj police station Gazi Mohammad Fauzul Azim said that local people seized the bus. On receiving the information, the police seized the bus and brought it to the police station. Later, legal action will be taken based on the complaint of the family of the deceased.
