The District Consumer Rights Protection Department has fined five establishments in a drive to ensure fair prices of products in the market during the holy month of Ramadan in Noakhali.

 

The drive was conducted by Assistant Director of the District Consumer Rights Protection Department, Md. Ashadul Islam, in the Islamganj Bazar area of ​​Sonaimuri Upazila of the district on Wednesday (March 5) at around 11 am.

 

According to the sources of the drive, this surveillance activity was conducted to keep the market of daily necessities stable during the holy month of Ramadan. During the drive, the price of a 5-liter bottle of soybean oil was 852 taka, but it was sold for 1000 taka. For this, a fine of 10,000 taka was imposed on Messrs. Haji Entazul Haque & Sons, 3,000 taka on Messrs. Malek Store for not properly supplying the promised product to the consumer, 5,000 taka on Messrs. Adhunik Poultry Farm for selling chicken at a price higher than the price displayed in the price list, 3,000 taka on Messrs. Khokon’s Chicken Shop for not displaying the price list and not preserving the purchase voucher, and 3,000 taka on Messrs. Jalil’s Chicken Shop for a total of 24,000 taka were imposed on 5 establishments.

 

Assistant Director of the District Consumer Rights Protection Department Md. Asadul Islam said that five establishments have been fined under the Consumer Rights Protection Act. At the same time, others were warned. A group of members of the District Special Task Force Team were present in the operation. A team from the District Battalion Ansar assisted in the operation.
