Jail fine for bursting firecrackers on 31st

The Ministry of Environment has decided to operate a mobile court to stop the bursting of fireworks and crackers and the flying of lanterns during the English New Year celebrations. This information was confirmed in a press release of the Ministry on Monday (December 30).
It said that bursting of firecrackers and crackers causes noise pollution and air pollution. Excessive noise pollution increases the risk of heart disease, stroke and stress. Besides, flying lanterns causes fires and loss of biodiversity.
The notification further states that these activities are punishable offenses under the Noise Pollution (Control) Rules, 2006. First time violation of the law can be punished with 1 month imprisonment or 5 thousand rupees fine or both. Repeat offense can be punished with imprisonment of 6 months or fine of 10,000 taka or both.
It has also been said that letters have been sent to clubs and related organizations in Dhaka requesting them to refrain from fireworks, bursting firecrackers and flying lanterns during the English New Year. Everyone is requested to refrain from these activities harmful to public interest.
