Joint forces have arrested three drug dealers along with 960 pieces of Yaba in Companyganj of Noakhali. They were produced in Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday (December 30) afternoon.  Earlier, they were arrested from Ward No. 2 of Charhazari Union of the upazila on Sunday night.

The arrested are UP member of Ward No. 2 of Charhazari Union of Upazila and General Secretary of Ward Awami League. Jahangir Alam (55), Zamir Hossain (68) son of Mandal of Lama Police Station area of ​​Bandarban District and Osman Hossain (28) son of Lalu of Ukhia Police Station of Cox’s Bazar.

According to the police and locals, the drug dealer Zamir of Bandarban and Osman of Cox’s Bazar have been supplying yaba to Awami League leader and UP member Jahangir of Companyganj in Noakhali for a long time. Jahangir is basically a famous drug dealer behind politics.   On Sunday night, on the basis of secret information, the combined forces of Charhazari Union No. 2 of the upazila Ward conducts special operations in the area. In the operation, 960 pieces Yabas and UP member of Ward No. 2 of Charhazari Union and General Secretary of Ward Awami League Md. Jahangir Alam and his 2 accomplices were arrested. 

Companyganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Bimal Karmakar said that after filing a case under the Narcotics Control Act, the accused were arrested and handed over to the judicial court.
