Akhtar Hossain, member secretary of the National Citizens Committee, has demanded to read the declaration of the July uprising by January 15. Akhtar made this demand to the interim government at a rally titled ‘March for Unity’ at the central Shaheed Minar of the capital on Tuesday (December 31) afternoon.

Akhtar Hossain said that the people of this country want a new Bangladesh. People of Bangladesh want a new constitution. People of Bangladesh want reform. When the leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement announced the reading of the manifesto of the July coup, the interim government announced the reading of the manifesto by all political organizations. This announcement is a victory for the anti-discrimination student movement. I would like to say to the interim government that the declaration of the July coup must be read immediately by January 15.

He said that the new constitution will be made through the elected representatives in the next national parliament elections. The next election will be the Constituent Assembly election. Those elected in that election will amend the constitution. The people of Bangladesh have many demands, those who will win the next election will have to fulfill those demands.
