In the last 24 hours, 23 more people have been admitted to the hospital due to dengue. At the same time no one died of dengue. In total, 165 people were admitted to the hospital with dengue in the first three days of the new year. No one died in the new year.

Health Department said on Friday, among the newly admitted patients, eight were admitted in two city corporation areas of Dhaka, 10 in Dhaka Division, one in Mymensingh Division and four in Chittagong Division.

At present 465 people are admitted in different hospitals of the country. Among them, 223 people are admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka, 242 people are in different hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, 1 lakh 1 thousand 214 people were hospitalized due to dengue in the country. Among them, 575 people died. This is the third highest number of hospitalizations due to dengue in a year. And second highest as death.

The Department of Health has kept data on hospital admissions and deaths due to dengue since 2000. Among them, 3 lakh 21 thousand 179 people were admitted to the hospital with this disease in 2023. The highest number of 1,705 people died of dengue in the same year.

In 2022, 1 lakh 1 thousand 354 patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, which is the second highest in Bangladesh.
