The RAB has arrested a fugitive accused in a kidnapping and rape case in Sadar Upazila of Noakhali. The arrested person is Md. Sujan (31), son of Henju Mia of Jamalpur village of Binodpur union of Sadar Upazila.

This information was given in a press release signed by Mithun Kumar Kundu, acting company commander of RAB-11, CPC-3 Noakhali camp, on Wednesday (March 19) night. Earlier, he was arrested from Noakhali Municipality area around noon on the same day.

RAB said that the victim (14) was an eighth grade student of a local school in Sadar Upazila. The arrested accused are neighbors and used to tutor the victim privately. In exchange for the privilege of tutoring, the teacher used to seduce the victim in various ways for malicious purposes. The girl’s mother came to know about the matter and informed her father. The victim was interrogated and told that the private teacher secretly proposed to him to go on a trip to Chittagong.

RAB further said that fearing danger in this regard, the father stopped his daughter’s private tutoring and sent her for a trip considering the girl’s mentality. On October 17, 2020, at around 5:30 pm, Sujon took the victim from Noakhali to Feni district by showing various temptations. Later, the girl and the accused teacher were brought from Feni and to the local UP office. During interrogation by the local UP chairman, the defendant claimed that the victim was his married wife. But he could not show any valid documents in support of the marriage. In the said incident, the victim’s father himself filed a complaint and a case was registered. In the said case, the learned court issued an arrest warrant against the defendant and arrested the absconding accused on the basis of secret information.

Mithun Kumar Kundu, acting company commander of RAB-11, CPC-3 Noakhali Camp, said that the arrested accused confessed to his involvement in the incident during interrogation. The accused has been handed over to Sudharam Police Station for legal action.
