A construction worker has died after falling from the roof of an under-construction building in Companiganj, Noakhali.

The deceased has been identified as Md. Alauddin (37), son of Mohammad Ulya of Boro Bari, Gazirbagh village, Batiya union, Kabirhat upazila of the district.

The incident took place at around 12:15 pm on Thursday (June 19) at Nahar Tower in Hospital Road area of ​​Ward No. 8 of Basurhat Municipality in the upazila.

Police and locals said that construction worker Alauddin went to work on the fifth floor of Nahar Tower in Hospital Road area of ​​Basurhat Bazar in the upazila around 9:30 am. Later, he was working with a mechanic there. At around 12:15 pm, he suddenly fell down carelessly and suffered a serious head injury. Later, he was rushed to the Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Companiganj Police Station Md. Abu Kausar said, “Based on information from locals, a group of police including me inspected the scene and recovered the body. After preparing a post-mortem report, the body was sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy. We have learned that he accidentally fell down while working on the roof of an under-construction building and died on the spot. However, the exact cause of death will be known only after receiving the autopsy report.”
