Former MP Ekram is on remand for 2 days

The court granted a two-day remand to Noakhali-4 (Sadar and Subarnachar) Constituency former Member of Parliament Mohammad Ekramul Karim Chowdhury in connection with the death of truck worker Md. Khokon (17).
Senior Judicial Magistrate No. 1 Amli Court Judge Iqbal Hossain gave this order on Monday (October 21) around 11:30 AM.

Earlier, the former MP Ekramul was produced by the police in Noakhali Senior Judicial Magistrate (Sadar) No. 1 Amli Court at around 10:30 on Monday. At that time, the investigating officer of the case applied to take him on five-day remand for the sake of investigating the case. At that time, the lawyer of the accused filed a bail application seeking cancellation of his remand. After the hearing, the court granted the remand of the accused for two days.
Incidentally, Mojibul Haque, the father of the trucker killed in Noakhali in 2013, filed a case at Sudharam Model Police Station against 53 leaders and activists of Awami League including the former member of parliament of Noakhali-4 (Sadar and Subarnachar) Mohammad Ekramul Karim Chowdhury in 2013 in Noakhali. It has been said in that case that on February 28, 2013, BNP-Jamaat workers-supporters gathered at Dutta bari intersection of Dutta Bari in Sadar Upazila of Noakhali to observe morning-evening hartal. Khokon, a truck worker, went to Dutterhat from his home at that timeHe was going to the labor union office. Awami League leaders including former MP Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, former Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Shamshuddin Jehan, former Zilla Parishad Chairman Abdul Wadud Pintu, former Noakhali Municipality Mayor Shaheed Uliah Khan Sohail ambushed the BNP-Jamaat procession. At that time, Ekramul along with other Awami League leaders fired indiscriminately and Khokon was shot dead, it is mentioned in the case. It is also said that Khokon was rescued and taken to Noakhali General Hospital by the doctor on duty declared him dead.
