A sales officer of a pharmaceutical company was killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle in Sadar Upazila of Noakhali.

The accident occurred in front of Khalil Mia’s house on Sonapur to Chairmanghat Road in Paschim Charuria village of Noakhali Union of the upazila on Saturday (December 13) evening.

The deceased, Md. Mainuddin (37), is the son of Sahab Uddin of Charmajid village in Ward No. 7 of Purba Charbata Union of Subarnachar Upazila. He was a regional officer of Jiska Pharmaceuticals Limited Pharmaceutical Company.

According to local sources, Mainuddin went to the local Jobair Bazar with his father on a motorcycle from his home in Charmajid village in the afternoon. Leaving his father at the market, he set off for Kumallia workplace on a motorcycle. At that time, when he reached Khalil Mia’s house on Sonapur to Chairmanghat road, a motorcycle collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw going to Subarnachar. In this, Mainuddin was seriously injured. Locals immediately rescued him and took him to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Sudharam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Touhidul Islam said that the police were sent to the spot after learning about the matter from media personnel. Legal action will be taken after talking to the family of the deceased.
