RAB has arrested a fugitive accused in an arms case in Begumganj, Noakhali. Senior Assistant Police Superintendent Mithun Kumar Kundu, acting company commander of RAB-11, CPC-3 Noakhali Camp, confirmed the matter in a press release on Monday (June 30) afternoon. Earlier, he was arrested from the upazila’s crossroads area around 9 pm yesterday, Sunday.

Arrested Md. Fakrul Islam (36) is the son of Md. Sohrab Hossain of Dewanji Bari in Ganipur village of the upazila.

The press release said that Fakrul is an accused in multiple cases including drugs and arms. The court ordered him to serve 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in a arms case. After that, he was absconding in various police stations of the country to avoid arrest. On Sunday night, based on a secret information, the RAB-11, CPC-3, Noakhali operation team arrested him from the road in front of Messrs. Maula Autos and Digital Honda Servicing Center, opposite the CNB Gate of the upazila intersection.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Mithun Kumar Kundu, acting company commander of RAB-11, CPC-3 Noakhali camp, further said that during interrogation, the accused confessed to being sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment as per the warrant. The accused has been handed over to Begumganj Police Station of the district for legal action against him.
