Leaders and workers of the banned Chhatra League held a flash march in Begumganj, Noakhali. On Thursday (July 31), they marched on the upazila’s Chowmuhani Railway Line Road around 3:45 pm. Later, the procession ended at Hasan Road in Chowmuhani Bazar. It was led by banned Chhatra League worker Jihad Hasan Ratan. Later, former Chhatra League leader Nazmul Shihab shared a video of the flash march on his Facebook account.

Locals said that around 3:45 pm, 25 to 30 teenagers were seen marching from the Chowmuhani Railway Line to the Hasan Road area of the upazila with several festoons and a Chhatra League banner. During the march, they raised slogans against the interim government and that Sheikh Hasina will return. The procession ended with slogans like “We are united” led by local leader Shihab Bhai.

Former member secretary of Begumganj Upazila Chhatra Dal, Dawood Ur Rahman, said, “Lakhs of innocent people are bearing the brunt of the fascist Awami League’s oppression. But due to the negligence of the local administration, the leaders and workers of their party’s banned affiliate organizations are showing the courage to hold public processions.”

In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Begumganj Police Station Dewan Liton said, “After receiving the information, an immediate drive was launched and four people were arrested. A drive is underway to arrest others involved in the incident.”
