7 members of the same family die after microbus falls into canal

Seven members of the same Omani expatriate family died after a microbus lost control and fell into a canal in Begumganj, Noakhali.
The accident occurred at around 5:30 am on Wednesday (August 6) in the Jagdishpur area of East Chandaganj on the Noakhali to Lakshmipur road.
The deceased are Omani expatriate Bahar Uddin’s mother Morshida (55), sister-in-law Labani (30), nieces Reshmi (8) and Lamia (9), Faizunnesa, daughter Mim, wife Kabita (24) and elderly grandmother (80). They are residents of Paschim Chowpalli village of Hajipara union in Lakshmipur district.
This information was confirmed by Chandraganj Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan.
Police and locals said that a microbus carrying an expatriate family returning from Dhaka Airport lost control and fell into a canal on the side of the road in the Gajdishpur area of East Chandaganj at around 5:30 am. Seven people died in this. Later, locals recovered the bodies and took them to various hospitals in Noakhali, where the doctors on duty declared them dead.
Chandraganj Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan further said that the microbus driver has been absconding since the incident. The microbus that was the victim of the accident has been seized and brought to the police station. The accident occurred because the driver was sleepy. The bodies are being handed over to the family after completing the legal process. A case is being registered in this incident.
