The US State Department’s briefing on the allegations against Sheikh Hasina in the BDR murder has been questioned. The US State Department has responded in this regard. This was asked at the US State Department briefing on Thursday local time.

A journalist asked in the briefing, the family members of the slain army officers have filed a complaint against 57 people including the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina in the International Criminal Tribunal for their involvement in the BDR killings in Pilkhana, Dhaka. What is your comment on the murder case against Sheikh Hasina?

In response, US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedanta Patel said, “I am not aware of the latest issue.” But my team will inquire about the matter. We will be glad if we can do anything for you.

Earlier on Wednesday, US position was sought on the issue of missing links and US sanctions against Sheikh Hasina. Asked at the briefing, the New York Times published an investigative report on the Commission on Disappearances in Bangladesh investigation. Evidence of former Prime Minister’s (Sheikh Hasina) involvement has been found in this. The US has already imposed sanctions on those involved in enforced disappearances. Do you have any comments on this?

In response, the chief deputy spokesperson of the department, Vedant Patel, said that hundreds of Bangladeshis have been forcibly disappeared in the last two decades. We are deeply concerned about such reports. Forced human rights violations and detention or detention for an indefinite period of time go through trauma. Even families have to go through the trauma of their uncertainty. We welcome the efforts of the interim government to investigate this crime. We also encourage fair and transparent processes to deliver justice to victims and their family members.
