A discussion meeting titled ‘Women’s Rights in a Tawheed-Based State System’ was held in Feni. The Feni District Women’s Department of Hezbut Tawheed organized this event at the District Shilpakala Academy Bhaban on Saturday (August 16) morning.
Speaking as the chief guest at the discussion meeting, Rufaidah Panni, the organization’s central joint general secretary, said, ‘It is not possible to ensure the real freedom and security of women by importing Western policies or forming some commissions. The way women have been turned into consumer goods in the current society is very sad. Only a Tawheed-based state system is capable of ensuring the real respect and rights of women.’
During the era of the Prophet (peace be upon him), women used to go to mosques, offer prayers, listen to sermons, manage markets and hospitals. They were even present in dangerous places like war. There is no such precedent where they were qualified but were not given the opportunity to perform any duties because they were women – said this female leader of Hezbut Tawheed.
He also said, ‘There will be no need for any quota for women in the Tawheed-based state system proposed by Hezbut Tawheed. Women are not a helpless or backward community; they will make their place in all spheres of the state with their qualifications, wisdom and talent.
Under the chairmanship of Hezbut Tawheed’s Feni District Women’s Affairs Secretary Saleha Begum Lovely, special guests included Mahabur Alam, Joint General Secretary of Hezbut Tawheed Central Committee, Jobeda Akhter Baby, Chittagong Divisional Women’s Affairs Secretary, Rakib Al Hasan, Central Deputy Secretary of the Education and Training Department, Feni District President Abdul Wahed Mamun, Comilla Region Women’s Affairs Secretary Asma Akhter, Feni District Women and Children’s Affairs Secretary Rahima Akhter Sumi, and others.
The speakers said that women are still being harassed and oppressed in various ways in Bangladesh, they are being deprived of their fair rights, and are being deprived of human rights. There is no alternative to Allah establishing the true Islam to overcome this situation and restore the true rights of women.
Hundreds of women from different police stations of Feni district arrived within the specified time and the hall was filled to the brim. They supported the speakers’ speeches with enthusiastic slogans and applause. The program was hosted by Anisa Binte Absar, a female member of Hizbut Tawheed.
