Birth control use is declining, population is growing

The government’s campaign activities on birth control methods have decreased in the country. At one time the rate of population growth was reduced due to extensive propaganda. But now the use of birth control method is decreasing day by day. There is reluctance to use birth control methods everywhere in rural and urban areas. As a result, the population growth rate is increasing again. Currently, the annual population growth rate is 1.33 percent.
Recently, this information has emerged in the SVRS report of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
According to the BBS report, the use of birth control has decreased to 61.1 percent in 2023 from 63.3 percent in 2022. In addition, in 2021 it was 65.6 percent. Earlier, the rate was 63.9 percent in 2020 and 63.4 percent in 2019.
According to the report, the use of birth control method in villages was 61.6 percent in 2023, which was 62.9 percent in 2022. Besides, it was 65.7 percent in 2021.
The BBS also says that in 2023, the use of birth control in cities was 63.9 percent, which was 64.3 percent in 2022. Besides, it was 65 percent in 2021.
