Police have arrested 2 persons on charges of gang-raping a woman and her daughter after taking them from their house in the middle of the night in Noakhali’s Companyganj.

On Saturday (October 26) night, a case is being taken under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act.  Earlier, this incident took place at Durgam Char of Char Elahi Union of the upazila last Sunday night. The arrested are Hasan (36) and Harun (32). They are residents of that union.

Talking to the police and locals, it is known that the victim of torture (35). Her husband drives in Chittagong. The woman was living in her house with her daughter in a remote pasture of Char Elahi Union of the upazila. A brother-in-law of his distant relation used to visit their house frequently. Local Rashed, Saiful, Hasan, Harun, Raju and Ibrahim suspected their mother and daughter. Last Sunday around 11 pm, 6 young men entered the victim’s house. At one point they opened the door of the room and entered the room. They then tied up the woman’s distant relative’s brother-in-law (21) and took him and his daughter (20) out of the house.

The victim woman complained and said that three of the youths dragged her to the shore of the house’s pond. Others took her daughter in front of the kitchen next to the living room. There, those youths took turns raping them till three o’clock in the night. While leaving, they looted the household items including money. If the incident is told to anyone, they threaten to kill.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Companyganj police station Gazi Muhammad Fauzul Azim said that the police arrested two people based on the complaint of the victim woman.  The abused woman and her daughter have been brought to the police station. In this case, the matter of filing a case under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act is under process.
