A 6th grade student died after being electrocuted in Companiganj, Noakhali. The incident occurred at around 12:30 pm on Tuesday (June 24) in Ward No. 1 of Char Elahi Union of the upazila.
The deceased, Md. Amir Hossain Shamim (13), was the son of Azgar Hossain Sujan of Soleman Mistry house in the same ward and a 6th grade student of the local Char Elahi High School.
Locals said that construction workers had started paving the earth around the house of expatriate Sujan since morning. For this, his son Shamim and his mother started moving the cot from an inside room. At that time, their hands slipped from the cot and fell on the tin fence in the middle of the house. As a result, they both got electrocuted. Later, Shamim was rescued in a serious condition and taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead. A shadow of mourning has fallen over the area due to his death.
Gazi Muhammad Fouzul Azim, officer-in-charge (OC) of Companiganj Police Station, said that after receiving the information, the police inspected the scene. Since there were no complaints, the body was handed over to the family without an autopsy.
