Law enforcement agencies have arrested a young man named Md. Siraj Uddin (26) on charges of gang-raping a widow who had gone to respond to the call of nature in Subarnachar, Noakhali.

Senior Assistant Police Superintendent Mithun Kumar Kundu, acting company commander of RAB-11, CPC-3 Noakhali Camp, confirmed the matter in a press release on Sunday (June 29) night. Earlier, on the same day in the afternoon, RAB-11 and RAB-7 arrested him from Hafiz village area of ​​Ichakhali union of Zorarganj police station in Chittagong.

Arrested Siraj is the son of Nabi Mia of Charkazi Mokhles area of ​​ward number 5 of Charwapda union of Subarnachar upazila.

RAB said that the victim and the accused are neighbors of each other. The husband of the abused woman died two years ago. Since then, she has been living in her father’s house with her son and children. On the night of May 11, when she left her house to respond to the call of nature, the accused Siraj and Osman, who were already lying in wait, grabbed the victim’s face and took her to the nearby pond. There, they tied both her hands with a towel and grabbed her face and raped her in turns. After the rape, the accused left her at the scene and fled. Later, the victim returned home and informed her mother about the matter.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Mithun Kumar Kundu, acting company commander of RAB-11’s CPC-3 Noakhali camp, further said that since the incident, the accused have been hiding to avoid arrest. During interrogation, the main accused has confessed to his involvement in the incident. He has been handed over to Char Jabbar Police Station for legal action.
