A young construction worker has died after falling from the roof of an under-construction building in Companiganj, Noakhali. The deceased, Md. Akash (20), is the son of Harunur Rashid of Patnichan village in Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur district.

The accident occurred at around 5:30 pm on Friday (August 15) at the under-construction building of expatriate Mubarak Ali alias Bahar in the College Road area of ward number 5 of Basurhat Municipality in the upazila.

Police and locals said that in the afternoon, construction worker Akash was working with other workers on the third floor of the under-construction building of expatriate Mubarak Ali alias Bahar in the College Road area of Basurhat Municipality in the upazila. At around 5:30 pm, he inadvertently slipped and fell down. As a result, the rod entered his neck through the right side of his chest and came out through the other side. Later, locals quickly rescued him and took him to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Companiganj Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Abu Kausar said the body was recovered and brought to the police station. The body was sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue for an autopsy on Saturday. Legal action will be taken in the incident later.
