Greater Noakhali has once again become agitated as in the past, demanding the division of Noakhali in the name of Noakhali, not with Comilla, a fraction of India’s Tripura.

Noakhali Division Implementation Struggle Council and the collective Noakhali residents have sought the intervention of Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus in the implementation of Noakhali Division.

On Sunday (December 22) morning, the organization held a human chain rally and protest march in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office demanding the lives of 1 crore people of greater Noakhali.

With the slogan of division with Comilla, the protest procession on the street went from the front of the District Commissioner’s office to the intersection of Noakhali Press Club and Town Hall and circled the main road of the district city.

Meanwhile, students of various political parties of Noakhali, anti-discrimination student movement, students’ rights council, social voluntary organizations, Noakhali Government College, Chaumuhani Government Saleh Ahmed College and Women’s College shook the entire city by marching and shouting slogans demanding the administrative division of Noakhali.

Journalist Saifur Rahman Russell, president of Noakhali Division Implementation Struggle Council, said, “Our Noakhali is a 200-year-old district full of wealth, mind, people, history, tradition and economic development. This traditional district controls 35 percent of the national economy of Bangladesh. Also there are more than 7 lakh expatriate residents of this district Remittances drive the wheels of the national economy. Considering all aspects, the best child of the nation, Bir Shrestha Ruhul Amin, along with Giannigunir district, Noakhali is a worthy claimant of the 9th administrative division. Therefore, 1 crore people of greater Noakhali want the announcement and implementation of a self-sufficient district of Noakhali as a division, not in Comilla, which is only 80 km away from Dhaka, but 160 km away from the Honorable Chief Adviser.
