The name of the railway bridge built over the river Yamuna has been changed. It has been renamed as ‘Yamuna Rail Setu’. In the beginning, the name of this bridge was Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Railway Bridge.

Afzal Hossain said that the name of the railway bridge built on Yamuna river will not be Bangabandhu Rail Setu. It will now be inaugurated as Jamuna Rail Setu. This railway bridge can be inaugurated by January 2025. That’s how it works.

He said, there is a shortage of engines in the railways, but I cannot provide new trains even if I want to. However, His Excellency the President requested whether any new trains could be operated for the people of Pabna. We are thinking about that.

Earlier, Fahimul Islam, Secretary of the Interim Government Railway Ministry, visited the railway bridge last Friday. Then he said, they are interested in naming various establishments after the place of their respective areas. The same may be true of the newly constructed railway bridge over the Yamuna river. The name of the newly constructed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge over the Yamuna River has been canceled and gazetted.
