Police recovered a Chinese rifle that was looted from Chatkhil police station in Noakhali.  The rifle was recovered abandoned from the pond of Chatkhil police station on Thursday (December 23) around 4:30 pm. Earlier, on August 5, the rifle was looted in an attack and arson at Chatkhil police station. The police could not give any information about who left the firearm in the police station pond.

This information was confirmed by the officer in charge (OC) of Chatkhil police station Feroz Uddin Chowdhury. 

According to the police, on the basis of secret information, the police came to know that there may be weapons looted from the police station in the pond of Chatkhil police station. Then on Thursday afternoon, the police went down to the water of the pond and searched. An abandoned Chinese rifle was recovered during the operation. Later it was brought to the police station.

Chatkhil Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Feroze Uddin Chowdhury said that miscreants looted several weapons from the police station and police outpost on August 5. Of these, 11 firearms have not yet been recovered. Among the looted weapons are three China rifles belonging to Chatkhil police station. The recovered Chinese rifle will be matched with documents.
