CNG driver dies after being hit by truck in front of police station

A CNG-powered autorickshaw driver was killed after being hit by a truck in Sadar Upazila of Noakhali. Locals immediately arrested the driver along with the truck and handed him over to the police.
The deceased, Rezaul Karim (45), is the son of Golam Hossain of Ismail’s house in ward number 9 of Aojbalia Union of the upazila. He was the father of one child.
The accident occurred at around 11:15 am on Monday (April 14) in the Sudharam police station area of the upazila. The arrested truck driver, Md. Rubel (32), is the son of Rafizul Talukder of Pet Monika village in Bhola district.
The deceased’s wife, Kohinur Begum, said that around 11:15 am, Karim was in a CNG car on the left side of the road, a little ahead of Sudharam police station on the Maijdi to Chaumuhani road, without a passenger. At that time, when he was about to take a right turn, a truck coming from the opposite direction of Sonapur Grami hit his CNG-powered auto-rickshaw. The auto-rickshaw was twisted and he was seriously injured. Later, locals rescued him and took him to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Sudharam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Kamrul Islam said that the accident occurred in front of the circle office, 50 yards from the police station. Immediately after the incident, locals handed over the truck along with the driver to the police station. The body has been kept in the morgue of the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital. Further legal action will be taken based on the written complaint of the deceased’s family.
