In Begumganj, Noakhali, a husband took his pregnant wife to a fair and slaughtered her. The police immediately arrested the murderer.

The incident took place at around 7:45 pm on Monday (April 14) at the Ors fair in Hafez Mohin Uddin of Eklashpur Union of the upazila.

The deceased Lucky Begum (19) is the daughter of Mansur Ali of Bede Palli in Kalapole area of ​​the same upazila and the arrested husband Md. Shakib is the son of Mangal of Bede Palli Para in Mannan Nagar of Sadar Upazila.

The mother of the deceased, Shefali Begum, said that a year ago, Lucky got married to Shakib, the son of Mangal of Bede Para in Mannan Nagar of Sadar Upazila of the district, due to family reasons. Lucky is currently five months pregnant. She came to her father’s house with her husband from her in-laws’ house fifteen days ago. Yesterday, Sunday, there was a fight between the husband and wife. At one stage, Shakib beat his wife and tore her clothes. Later, he broke a mobile phone he was using and beheaded himself. On Monday evening, Lucky’s husband and his family members went to visit the Urs fair of Mohin Uddin Hafez in Eklashpur Union. There, the husband and wife got into a fight together.

Shefali Begum, quoting a woman who was an eyewitness in Nagardola, further said that at one stage, Shakib stabbed his wife in the neck in Nagardola, seriously injuring her. Later, the wife was taken to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital in a bloody state. The doctor on duty there declared her dead.

In this regard, Begumganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Habibur Rahman said that the accused husband has been arrested. The incident occurred due to a family dispute. The body of the deceased was sent to the morgue of the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital for autopsy. Further legal action will be taken based on the written complaint of the deceased’s family.
