A youth committed suicide by hanging himself inside a mosque in Companiganj, Noakhali. The body will be sent to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital morgue for autopsy on Friday (February 14) morning. Earlier, the incident took place on Thursday afternoon at the Jame Masjid of Komar Uddin Bepari Bari in Ward No. 1 of Charkakra Union of the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahim Biplob (28), son of Fazlul Haque Chowdhury of Najir Ahmed Bepari Bari in the same ward.

Police said that Rahim left his house at noon. When the imam of the mosque entered the mosque to give the call to prayer for Asr, he saw his body hanging from the ceiling fan. Later, after receiving information, the police recovered the body from the spot and took it to the police station.

Companiganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Gazi Mohammad Fouzul Azim said the victim was mentally unstable. He committed suicide by hanging himself at a mosque in his area. The body will be sent to the morgue of the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital on Friday morning for an autopsy. A general diary (GD) has been filed in the incident.
