Drug dealer couple arrested with 2,000 pieces of Yaba

The District Detective Branch (DB) has arrested two people, including a woman, from the district town of Noakhali with 2,000 pieces of Yaba. They are husband and wife and professional drug dealers.
The arrested Najma Akhter (39) is the daughter of the late Ahmed Ullah of Bhabani Jibanpur village of Chhayani union of Begumganj upazila of Noakhali and Ershad Ullah (38) is the son of Ali Ahmed of Nazim Uddin Moulvi bari of Purba Sikder para of Hila union of Teknaf police station of Cox’s Bazar district.
The accused were produced before the Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court around noon on Wednesday (March 5). Earlier, they were arrested from in front of Rezaul Karim Bari Diagnostic Hospital in the district town at around 9:30 pm on Tuesday.
Police said that the arrested people have been involved in drug buying and selling for a long time. After hearing the news of the sale of Yaba, a raid was conducted in front of Rezaul Karim Bari Diagnostic Hospital in the housing area of the district town at around 9:30 pm and the couple was arrested. During this, 2,000 pieces of Yaba were seized. In addition, there are two drug cases against them, one in Ramu police station of Cox’s Bazar and one in Noakhali.
Noakhali Superintendent of Police (SP) Abdullah Al Faruk said that a case has been registered under the Narcotics Control Act in this incident. They were arrested in that case and handed over to the Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court around Wednesday afternoon.
