A teenager (17) who tried to rape a girl (7) studying in a madrasa in Muchapur Union of Companiganj Upazila of Noakhali has been handed over to the police by his family. On Monday (March 03), his expatriate father handed him over to the police in the Sonapur Zero Point area of ​​the district town.

According to local sources, on Saturday morning, the teenager tried to rape the child by blocking the road near the new house of Faruk Mia in ward number 6 of Muchapur Union of the upazila and passing by. At that time, people came forward when the child screamed and he ran away.

Some elders tried to resolve the matter locally. They pressured the victim’s family to sign a settlement and paper for 20 thousand taka. Refusing to do so, the mother of the child student filed a case with the police station under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act, accusing the teenage son of the expatriate in the same area.

In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Companiganj Police Station Gazi Muhammad Foujul Azim said, “The accused was arrested within 24 hours of filing the case with the help of his family. Legal action is being taken in this incident.”
