A mobile court drive in Maijdi, the district town of Noakhali, was attacked, the executive magistrate’s car was vandalized and the road was blocked, stopping traffic.
The attack and vandalism occurred in front of the Noakhali District School at around 11:30 am on Monday (September 1). However, the situation is currently normal.
According to local sources, at around 11 am, the mobile court, led by Noakhali District Administration Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Md. Fahim Hasan Khan, conducted a drive to evict illegal structures on both sides of the road in the district town. During this time, various vehicles illegally parked on the side of the road were dumped. Angered by this, the vehicle owners and drivers blocked the Maijdi main road and vandalized the executive magistrate’s car. After receiving the information, multiple teams of the army and police reached the spot and brought the situation under control around 1 pm.
According to district administration sources, the government has provided specific stand space for buses, private cars and micro drivers in Noakhali. A part of the Noakhali new bus stand has been designated for private cars and micro drivers. But instead of parking their cars there, they park their cars randomly on the main road in front of Noakhali District School. This creates traffic jams throughout the city. Although they have been prohibited from doing so several times at different times, they are not paying attention.
Confirming the truth of the incident, Noakhali Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Istiak Ahmed said that upon receiving the information, law enforcement officials went to the spot and brought the situation under control. The matter of filing a case against the accused in this incident is under process.
