Police recovered a looted bullet from the police station in Sonimuri, Noakhali. Sonimuri Police Station Officer -in -Charge Morshed Alam confirmed the matter at around 8am on Tuesday (January 26). Earlier, the weapon was recovered from a drain in front of Sonimuri police station around 9.30pm on Monday.
Police and locals said that a local man went to fish at the adjoining Nala in front of Sonimuri police station in the afternoon. At that time he saw the shotgun lying on the edge of the drain. He later informed the police that the police recovered the weapon with a bullet abandoned. The weapon has long been submerged in the water, and the barrel has been destroyed by rust on the iron part of the barrel. The recovered rubber cartridge has been in the water for a long time.
Officer -in -charge of Sonimuri Police Station (OC) Morshed Alam said the miscreants attacked August 5 and looted several firearms from the police station. According to a local man, a 12 bore shotgun (whose butt no-spast) and 3 round rubber cartridge were recovered and taken into police custody. However, an estimated fourteen firearms of police looted from Sonimuri police station have not yet been recovered.
