11 shops and 1 factory gutted in Senbagh fire

11 shops and a godown, including a wooden furniture factory, were gutted in a fire in Senbagh, Noakhali.The incident took place at around 12 midnight on Saturday (August 9) in the upazila’s Sebarhat market. Upon receiving the information, five units of the Fire Service from Senbagh, Chaumuhani and Maijdi tried for about six and a half hours to bring the fire under control.
Victim traders and locals said that the fire first started at a furniture factory in Sebarhat around 12 midnight on Saturday. Then the fire spread to nearby shops. 12 shops and a factory were gutted in the fire. The fire was completely brought under control at 7 am on Sunday. At least 11 businesses, including a furniture factory, machinery goods and shops selling Thai aluminum products, were completely gutted in the fire. The victims suffered losses of Tk 35 crore in the fire.
Firefighter Md. Sabbir Hossain of Senbagh Fire Service Station said, five units tried for about 6 and a half hours to bring the fire under control. The fire caused a loss of 7 crore taka. The cause of the fire can be known after the investigation.
