Autorickshaw overturns in Sudharam, woman dies, 4 injured

A woman died after a CNG-powered autorickshaw overturned in Sadar Upazila of Noakhali. Four other passengers in the CNG were seriously injured.

 

The accident occurred at around 6:30 pm on Friday (September 19) at the door of Tajul Driver’s house adjacent to Char Shullukia on the Sonapur to Alexander road in Aojbalia Union of the upazila.

 

According to local sources, a CNG-powered autorickshaw with 5 passengers left Sonapur in Sadar Upazila for Alexander in Lakshmipur on Friday evening. On the way, when it reached near Tajul Driver’s house adjacent to Char Shullukia on the Sonapur to Alexander road in Aojbalia Union of the upazila, the CNG-powered autorickshaw lost control and overturned and went to eat paddy in the water outside the road. Five people, including a woman and a child, were seriously injured in this. Later, local people rescued them and took them to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared the woman dead. However, the police could not immediately confirm the identity of the woman.

 

Sudharam Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Kamrul Islam said that after receiving the information, the police visited the scene. The accident occurred when the CNG-powered auto-rickshaw lost control. It is believed that the woman is approximately 27 years old. Police are trying to confirm her identity.
