Two separate murders have taken place in Begumganj Upazila of Noakhali. The relatives of the deceased said that these two murders took place due to dominance in the area and a dispute over a mobile phone. On Friday night, around 10:30 pm, miscreants hacked to death a teenager named Arman Hossain Bijoy (18) in the New Bridge area of ​​Eklashpur Union of the upazila. The deceased Bijoy is the son of Shahin Chowdhury of Ashraf Ali Haji Bari of Hajipur village in Ward No. 1 of Hajipur Union of the upazila.

 

On the other hand, a young man named Abdur Rahman alias Shukkur (35) of Rajapur village in Durgapur Union of the upazila died after being beaten up by his opponents over a dispute over a mobile phone. He was first taken to Noakhali General Hospital after falling ill due to the beating around 11 pm last Thursday. From there, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College for advanced treatment and died while undergoing treatment on Friday evening. However, the police have not yet arrested anyone in the two consecutive murders. The bodies of the two deceased have been sent to the morgue of the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital for autopsy.

 

Locals said that Shukkur of Rajapur village in Durgapur union of the upazila was beaten up by some local youths after a mediation meeting over the theft of a mobile phone on the road in front of his house. Shukkur is the son of the deceased Abdul Mannan of the same union.

 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Begumganj Police Station Liton Dewan said that the two bodies have been recovered and sent to the morgue of the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital for autopsy. Legal action will be taken after investigation. However, according to the doctor’s report, Shukkur died due to kidney disease.
